Beveled Glass

A beveled edge refers to an edge of a structure that is not perpendicular (but instead often at 45 degrees) to the faces of the piece. Beveled edges are a commonly found in window panes and mirrors.

Beveled glass is usually made by taking one-quarter inch-thick clear glass and creating a one-inch bevel on one side around the entire periphery. These bevels act as prisms in the sunlight creating an interesting color diffraction which both highlights the glasswork and provides a spectrum of colours which would ordinarily be absent in clear float glass.

"Beveled glass" can be obtained as clusters which are arranged to create a specific design. These can vary from simple three or four piece designs, often used in top lights (commonly known as transoms) of windows and conservatories, to more complex combinations of many pieces, suitable for larger panels such as doors and side screens (known in the door industry as sidelites).

Beveled Glass has also been used with clear and colored textured glass to create designs. Textured glass is typically 1/8" thick and has a distinct visible texture. The combination of beveled glass is juxtaposed to the textured glass creating dramatic visual effects.

A sudden drizzle

A bright and sunny morning was transformed into a cloudy and dark day with a sudden welcome drizzle.

I waited for the rainbow, but it never occurred.
Maybe next time......

Clouds, Sunrise and Sunset

Clouds always fascinated me since childhood for their various formations and colours so does sunrise and sunsets.

I used to peep through the windows and look at the sky and tried to identify the various formations as read in the school books. I remember, I used to be so elated when a particular shape matched with that in the text books.

Though today skyline is diminishing with rapid increase of multi-storied building, I try to capture various moods of clouds including rising sun and its setting in the horizon whenever I get the time and chance.

So posting some of my clicks. Hope you all enjoy them.
I'll be posting more snaps in the following posts.
